Exotic Animals

Dove Valley Animal Hospital provides examinations and consultations for a variety of non canine and feline patients. Snakes, turtles, lizards, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, sugar gliders, hamsters, gerbils, rats and mice are a few of the most popular patients we see.

We recommend Ferrets have annual examinations and vaccinations. Young ferret kits undergo a series of vaccinations followed by annual vacine boosters for rabies and distemper viruses.

We also recommend Rabbits and small mammals have an initial "new pet" exam. We will discuss socialization, diet, proper care and housing during the initial exam. Annual check-ups are recommended even for healthy pets.

Even reptiles should have an annual examination. During these exams we will review diet and husbandry. Fecal examinations are needed on an annual basis to assure your pet's continued health.
